Island Ford’s Giving Plan: Cowichan SPCA
The Cowichan Valley SPCA was one of the organizations that the Island Ford staff voted to support with our giving initiative in 2017. Why do we want to support the SPCA? The SPCA works to protect and enhance the quality of life for animals. They want to ensure animals have their essential needs like hunger and safety met, and do this by working with the community to foster a sense of responsibility for animal welfare.
In 2016, the BC SPCA (this includes 44 locations, not just the Cowichan & District Branch) helped 42,970 animals, sheltered 26,213 animals, and found homes for 15,594 animals. In our community, it is unfortunately common to see stray or feral animals in need of care. Our Island Ford family extends beyond our store into our community and homes, and to our fur family members as well. Many of our staff have adopted animals from the SPCA like Scout and Gozer.
Bring your pet into the store, we have dog treats! They can cool-off in the air conditioned building, and get a fresh drink of water. Bring the dog along for the test drive, it's important to make sure they fit too.
Earlier this year we participated in the SPCA's Cups for Pups campaign, and sold cupcakes here in store. The hand-made cupcakes raised more than $300 for the Cowichan Valley SPCA.
Beyond the money raised from the sale of cupcakes, we will also be donating $5,000 as well as volunteering our time to help them build a cedar fence at their headquarters on Saturday, June 10th from 10am-2pm.
If you would like to pitch in and help our Island Ford Volunteer team build a fence for the Cowichan Valley SPCA, please send us an email.
